Loud cracking noises and limited movement when opening her mouth made her daily life increasingly difficult. Thanks to treatment with TMJ disorder specialist Dr. Amir Sayfadini, this improved very quickly thanks to a custom-made splint.  The story of Sarah* demonstrates the importance of proper splint therapy in the treatment of TMJ disorder. The young patient suffered from various symptoms for a long time, which could be temporarily alleviated but not long-term. Only thanks to a suitable bionator, Sarah* is now living almost symptom-free again. Most importantly, she was able to enjoy a very special day of her life without any problems.  

 From one day to the next, Sabrina* (name changed) simply could no longer open her mouth. On good days, she was so painful that she could only open it 2 centimeters. Speaking, yawning, eating – nothing worked as usual. An MRI scan showed that the intervertebral disc between the joints of her upper and lower jaw had slipped.  The causes of TMJ disorder and jaw problems can be as varied as the patients themselves. For example, hereditary diseases can trigger abnormalities in the masticatory system. This was the case with patient Linda* (name changed), who has suffered from scoliosis since puberty. It was not initially recognized that her spinal problems also influenced her jaw problems.
